New Investigative Licences Backed by Former WA Detective
5 May 2025

i24s Group (the Group) (i24s) has bolstered its Integrated Security capabilities by obtaining an Inquiry Agent Licence – this makes i24s the only Aboriginal-owned security business with Investigations now part of its capability and capacity.

In Australia, an Inquiry Agent Licence (also known as a ‘Private Investigator Licence’) authorises individuals to lawfully investigate and obtain information about personal, financial and/or legal matters, on behalf of clients. These types of investigative powers are regulated under the relevant security and investigation services licensing frameworks.

Drawing on the Inquiry Agent Licence, i24s is now permitted to provide the following services:

  • Background and Pre-employment Checks – for sensitive or high-trust roles

  • Corporate Investigations – internal theft, fraud, WHS breaches, workplace misconduct

  • Insurance Investigations – injury claims, staged accidents, workers’ compensation

  • Covert Surveillance – mobile or fixed position observation with reporting

  • Process Serving – delivering legal documents to parties

  • Locating Individuals – missing persons, debtors, ex-employees.

The Director of Strategy at i24s, Justin Kickett, has also secured his Inquiry Officer Licence, which will see him conduct investigations and inquiries on behalf of the business. Justin has 20 years’ experience as a member of the WA Police Force, where he served as a Detective for ten years dealing with serious and protracted investigations.

Justin says, “The Licences enable us to expand our security offerings for clients and that’s exciting. Our security capability is continuously evolving. Last month we announced our expansion into NSW as well."

“What does this mean for clients? Thorough legal and ethical investigations, cost-effective risk management, increased support for corporate due diligence and decision-making, and specialist inquiries suited to Indigenous business or issues.”

i24s is a 100 per cent Aboriginal-owned business, therefore, clients will be able to leverage services knowing they will be conducted in culturally sensitive manner.
